2000 to present

In the 2000s, several ad campaigns positioned AXA as a “human” business, entirely devoted to its clients.

2000

Mathieu Lamy appointed Executive Vice President, Operations, AXA Insurance (Canada).

First national advertising campaign: ''We insure your treasures great and small.

2001

Jennie Moushos appointed Vice President, Operations, AXA Pacific Insurance Company.

Second phase of the national TV advertising campaign. Goals: Increase awareness of the AXA brand; Build on a single AXA brand across Canada; Position ourselves as a strong, dynamic and human company resolutely focused on its clients; Target markets: Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver; Theme: ''We insure your treasures great and small.

2002

Jean-François Blais appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of AXA Canada. Jean-Denis Talon celebrates his 20th anniversary as President of AXA Canada. 999 West Hastings Street in Vancouver, B.C., becomes the AXA Place building.

2003

Appointment of Bernard Boiteau as Executive Vice President, Operations, Property/Casualty Insurance, AXA Assurances, Quebec.

Quebec launch of ASSURELLE®, an automobile insurance policy for women drivers between the ages of 30 and 49 and featuring an exclusive privilege: free roadside assistance.

2004

Jean-François Blais appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of AXA Canada.

AXA Pacific celebrates its 25th anniversary.

2005

20th anniversary of the AXA brand.

2006

AXA Canada buys Winterthur's Canadian operations (The Citadel Assurance).

2007

Transfer of AXA Financial Services managed assets portfolio to PEAK Financial Group.

1980 to 1999

Creation of the holding company AXA Canada.

Jean-Denis Talon becomes President of AXA Canada.

1984

Provinces-Unies celebrates its 60th anniversary and adds ''Members of the AXA Group'' to its signature.

1988

Acquisition of the Canadian Personal Lines books of Home of New York (now AXA Insurance).

1992

Provinces-Unies changes its name to AXA Assurances.

1993

Acquisition of Boréal Assurances (formerly Laurentian General).

AXA Assurances becomes the first insurer in Quebec and AXA Canada becomes the fourth largest insurer in Canada.

1995

Founding of the Hearts in Action volunteer program in Canada.

Creation of AXA Canada Tech.

Boreal Pacific changes its name to AXA Pacific Insurance Company.

Acquisition of a majority share in Insurance Corporation of Newfoundland (ICON).

1997

Boréal Assurances changes its name to AXA Boréal Assurances.

70th anniversary of AXA Assurances.

1999

AXA Canada signs an agreement with National Bank of Canada, the leading banking group in Quebec, paving the way for the creation of a joint direct selling venture, National Bank Insurance.

Merger of AXA Assurances and AXA Boréal Assurances. The new entity is called AXA Assurances.

1900 to 1980

Founding of La Prévoyance insurance company, which later became Laurentian General, Boréal Assurances, AXA Boréal Assurances and AXA Assurances.

1909

Founding of Les Prévoyants du Canada insurance company, which later became Laurentian General, Boréal Assurances, AXA Boréal Assurances and AXA Assurances.

1927

Founding of Provinces-Unies insurance company (now AXA Assurances).

1964-1966

Visit to Quebec of Claude Bébéar, now Chairman of honour of AXA's Supervisory Board, and creation of Provinces-Unies' Life division under Mr. Bébéar's responsibility.

1964-1968

The Anciennes Mutuelles Group gains control of Provinces-Unies.
